Work For Davey

Scott Amos

"You’re not a number with Davey. You’re part of a team, a family and a company where there’s a lot of pride. It’s a place where you advance your career. You can help create new positions for yourself, and your hard work and ideas are acknowledged and recognized by upper management."

Scott Amos learned before he even joined Davey that the company truly cares about people.

In 2002, Amos was considering a landscape foreman position with the tree care company but had to postpone his interview to tend to his ailing father. When the meeting finally occurred - weeks after briefly stopping in the Davey office to reschedule - managers expressed genuine concern about the health of Amos’ dad.

"I realized it is a company that really cares about its employees and their families," says Amos, now landscape supervisor with Commercial Grounds Management in northeastern Ohio. "In talking during the interview, it was casual and personal. We not only talked about Davey, but we talked about each other. It meant a lot because I’m family-oriented and wanted to find something I truly love doing and people I would love working with."

Amos had worked for a local landscaping and garden business for 22 years before joining Davey. He sought and has enjoyed new experiences, educational opportunities and a focus on safety, he says. He proudly has contributed to major accounts including Blossom Music Center - the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra and an outdoor venue for popular music concerts - and Crocker Park, which is a retail, office and apartment living center in Westlake, Ohio.

"Although we are part of a team, individual work is recognized with this company," Amos says. "That makes you proud and want to work harder."
