Shawn William Bruzda
Senior Urban Forester and Biologist

Shawn William Bruzda is an urban forester and biologist with Davey Resource Group. Mr. Bruzda performs tree inventories for cemeteries, golf courses, military bases, municipalities, parks, and university and corporate campuses. Mr. Bruzda is also responsible for the creation and dissemination of tree inventory management plans, as well as reports dealing with various applied urban forestry topics. He has extensive experience with handheld and pen-tablet GIS and GPS data collection units and their respective software applications. He has served as project manager on numerous large- and small-scale municipal tree inventories throughout the United States. He has also participated in the collection of data for Street Tree Resource Analysis Tool for Urban Forest Managers (STRATUM). STRATUM, developed by the U. S. Forest Service, is a model used for analyzing the benefits of urban street trees as well as the costs of managing them. Mr. Bruzda also assists with tree preservation and planting plans, as well as tree appraisals. As a biologist with Davey Resource Group, Mr. Bruzda participates in ecological surveys involving fish and macroinvertebrate identification and data analysis. He also assists with wetlands delineation surveys, bat mist-net surveys, endangered species and habitat studies, secondary source reviews, and technical report writing. Proficient with AutoCADŽ and ArcGIS software, Mr. Bruzda creates maps for a variety of natural resource studies. He is a Certified Arborist (OH-1342A) through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and member of the Ohio Chapter of the ISA. Mr. Bruzda is a graduate of Kent State University, having received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences with an emphasis in aquatic ecology.
