Davey Resource Group was given a unique opportunity to coordinate a detailed urban forestry project across eight communities in Erie County, Pennsylvania. The French Creek and Lake Erie Watershed Tree Inventory and Planting Project consisted of the following tasks:
The purpose of this project was to improve, protect, and enhance the French Creek and Lake Erie Watershed by providing communities within the watershed a comprehensive community forestry management plan. During inventories of Erie County's target communities, Davey Resource Group created a custom management plan for each community. This information was then presented at a series of local public meetings to help educate each community on the needs of their urban forest and to guide their future management decisions. The Erie County Department of Planning implemented portions of the management plans in this project by commissioning street tree plantings in all eight communities. To assist Erie County, Davey Resource Group coordinated spring plantings of public trees with the help of each community's Shade Tree Commission.
