WASHINGTON, D.C. - Davey employees took part in the recent Renewal and Remembrance Day at Arlington National Cemetery, an annual event that brings volunteers from across the country who donate a day of work beautifying the grounds. Bill Aitken, district manager of Davey's Long Island residential and commercial office, provided a Dedication of Work during the PLANET/TCIA 2009 Renewal and Remembrance Day ceremony. He spoke of his first visit to the cemetery as a high schooler and how its significance for him has grown through his service in the U.S. Navy, the loss of loved ones during war and his dedicated work in the green industry. In additional to the work offered during Renewal and Remembrance Day, Davey has maintained a contract at the cemetery for a quarter century and provides mowing, tree and shrub care, spring and fall cleanup and snow and ice removal.
