Shirley Trier, M.S., is a regional business developer and
project manager based in the Southeastern United States. She is
responsible for assisting governments, businesses, communities, and
not-for-profit organizations with urban forestry and ecological
restoration projects and implementation plans. Prior to joining
Davey, Ms. Trier worked for the State of Florida Division of
Forestry where she administered a multi-million dollar urban
forestry grant program that focused on mitigating hurricane damage.
While in this role, she assisted governments, communities, golf
courses, and not-for-profit organizations with the implementation
of urban forestry projects including tree plantings and removals,
pruning, management plans, and street tree inventories. She also
designed educational materials for distribution to tree care
professionals as well as homeowners. Ms. Trier has several years of
experience managing parkland and natural areas and has worked in
south Florida developing ecological restoration plans and
management plans for open and green spaces and conservation land.
She is a Certified Arborist (FL-5512A) through the International
Society of Arboriculture. She holds both bachelor's and master's
degrees in geology from the University of Iowa, and has hours
towards a doctoral degree at the University of Alabama, also in
geological science.
