Ruth Ann Sobnosky, M.S., is a senior project manager and environmental planner with over 14 years of experience including work in both the public and private sector. Ms. Sobnosky utilizes her project management skills to successfully assemble and supervise project teams, coordinate with clients, administer contracts and grants, and track performance. As an environmental planner, she conducts literature research and prepares and reviews technical documents to ensure quality project deliverables. Ms. Sobnosky manages a variety of urban forestry and natural resource projects related to environmental planning, urban forestry master plans, cost-benefit analysis studies, stormwater and green infrastructure, federal or regional grant projects, and other large and complex natural resource related projects. Her responsibilities at Davey include preparing presentation and educational materials that effectively communicate and educate the public and community representatives on the goals, needs, and benefits of their community forests and natural resources. Ms. Sobnosky has developed user-friendly presentation materials including graphics, tables, and narratives, brochures, PowerPoint™ programs related to urban forestry, and natural resource projects. Ms. Sobnosky is also responsible for the oversight of all Department of Transportation and local public agency related work in Ohio, including scoping, bidding, final review and approval of deliverables, and invoicing to ensure that all work performed is consistent with agency standards. Ms. Sobnosky is experienced and knowledgeable in the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Prior to joining Davey, Ms. Sobnosky’s responsibilities included the review, evaluation, and reporting of environmental and socio-economic impacts to fulfill NEPA requirements. This required coordination with public agencies, working with engineers, and initiating and attending public involvement meetings related to the construction of new roads, bridges, and other important public infrastructure in Ohio. Ms. Sobnosky has prepared Categorical Exclusion documents for the Ohio Department of Transportation and environmental assessments for the United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Ms. Sobnosky is Ohio Department of Transportation prequalified for environmental document preparation—EA, EIS, and CE and Section 4(f). Ms. Sobnosky graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in geography, and holds a Master of Science degree also in geography from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
