Kasey Krouse is an urban forester with Davey Resource Group. Mr.
Krouse shares responsibilities between the Urban Forestry and
Ecological Services groups within Davey. His urban forestry duties
include conducting municipal and park tree inventories. He has
experience with GIS-based pen tablet computers and handheld PDA
data collection units, as well as GPS technology. He has served as
project manager for public tree inventories in Lower Merion,
Pennsylvania, Riverside, Illinois, Jackson, Tennessee, and Madison
and Columbia City, Indiana. Mr. Krouse is also certified by the
U.S. Forest Service to perform Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) data
collection for the State of Indiana in an effort to determine the
current age and status of forests across the country. In addition,
he has also participated in the Sample Urban Statewide Inventory
(SUSI) for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of
Forestry where he collected data in several Indiana cities and
town. The SUSI project assesses the health and state of Indiana's
urban forests via a sample statewide inventory and analysis of the
findings using i-Tree's STRATUM application. Ecological duties
include developing wetland mitigation planting plans, installing
plant materials, shrubs, and trees in mitigation wetlands,
implementing invasive species management plans, and surveying
stockpile measurements for aggregate quarries. Prior to joining
Davey, Mr. Krouse conducted research on the effects of herbicides
on herbaceous species for the Urban Forestry Department at Purdue
University, and has also served as a wildlife technician for
graduate students in the Natural Resource Department at Purdue. He
has studied abroad in Christchurch, New Zealand where he evaluated
plantation forestry practices in the South Pacific. Mr. Krouse is a
Certified Arborist (IN-3243A) with the International Society of
Arboriculture, and was a recipient of the TREE Fund's Felix
Memorial Scholarship in 2005. Mr. Krouse graduated from Purdue
University with a bachelor of science degree in forestry,
specializing in urban forestry and international studies.
