Doak Marasco is an urban forester with Davey Resource Group. Mr.
Marasco conducts public tree inventories in municipalities and
parks utilizing GIS equipped data collection units. He has assisted
with inventory projects in Oak Park, Michigan; Noblesville,
Indiana; and Leesburg, Virginia. Involved with i-Tree's Street Tree
Resource Analysis Tool for Urban Forest Managers (STRATUM), Mr.
Marasco has led a data collection team for the reference city
project in Orlando, Florida. These data are used by the U. S.
Forest Service to quantify the structure, function, value, and
maintenance of urban street trees. Before joining Davey Resource
Group, Mr. Marasco worked as an arborist for Davey Tree's
residential division in Boston, Massachusetts and Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. While working for Davey Tree, he held the positions
of Climber and Plant Health Care Technician. During that time, he
also spent several months taking part in the Asian Longhorned
Beetle eradication effort in the New York City area. Mr. Marasco
has prior inventory experience with Casey Trees in Washington D.C.
where he was a field team leader. In addition to Mr. Marasco's work
history, he also volunteered for a ten-month term of service with
Americorps' National Civilian Community Corps, participating in
unmet human needs, public safety, education, and environmental
projects. Mr. Marasco is a Certified Arborist (NE-6393A) through
the International Society of Arboriculture and a graduate of the
Davey Institute of Tree Sciences, a four-week comprehensive
training program developed by founder John Davey. Mr. Marasco
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in forest science (urban
forestry option) from The Pennsylvania State University.
