Plan before you plant!
North American growing zones differ by where you live in North America. The USDA Hardiness Zones are often used in central and eastern parts of the United States. Canadian zones are used in Canada. The western United States often uses more detailed Sunset Climate Zones. Additionally, the American Horticulture Society has created a Heat Zone Map to help gardeners understand plant tolerances to heat. A quick online search can help determine your zone, as can a call to your local arborist.
