KENT, Ohio – Andy Hillman has joined Davey Resource Group, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, as a senior consulting urban forester and business developer in its natural resource consulting group. He specializes in urban forestry, national tree care performance standards (A300) and cooperative municipal/utility projects as they relate to urban forestry, park management and green infrastructure.
Hillman has more than 25 years experience in municipal government. Prior to joining Davey, he was employed by the City of Ithaca, NY for 16 years as city forester and the City of Oswego, NY for 9 years, first as supervisor of tree care and park maintenance, then as assistant commissioner of public works.
Hillman has experience in developing urban forestry management plans and maintenance standards; formulating park master plans; budgeting projects; and communicating with advisory boards, city councils, and citizens. He has extensive experience writing specifications and administering tree care and urban forest management contracts. Due to the breadth of his municipal arboriculture expertise, he is a respected instructor at the Society of Municipal Arborist’s nationally known Municipal Forestry Institute.
Hillman has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the State University of New York at Oswego. He is a Certified Arborist and Municipal Specialist through the International Society of Arboriculture. Hillman is also a past President of the Society of Municipal Arborists, a board member of the New York State Urban Forestry Council, and a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists.
