Fort Wayne taps firm to help combat EAB

The emerald ash borer has wreaked a lot of havoc, killing thousands of ash trees and causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage in northeast Indiana.

The pesky beetles and the aftermath have consumed more than trees: Fort Wayne park officials have been so busy fighting back that they have had less time to devote to their everyday job duties. For that reason, Chad Tinkel, manager of forestry operations for Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, said the city must bring in an outside consulting firm for assistance and guidance.
