Healthy Trees, Healthy Communities
Trees do a lot for us, when you think about it.
Trees enhance property value, sequester carbon, boost energy savings, improve air quality, shield us from the harsh effects of sun and wind, provide bird and animal habitats, and reduce stormwater runoff…not to mention reduce stress and lower heart rates as they provide beautiful vistas and cool places beneath which to sit on hot summer days.
Trees may, in fact, be one of the most underestimated and undervalued natural resources in the world.
Realtors say homeowners with trees on or near their properties describe their quality of life as safer, more pleasant and more satisfying than homeowners without trees nearby. This could be because these tree-lined streets are said to reduce traffic speed, screen unsightly views, dampen noise levels and lower crime rates. Given a choice between a scene with trees and one without, a survey showed people of all ages and ethnic groups prefer the scene with trees, regardless of whether they live in urban, suburban or rural areas.
In planting and properly caring for trees across the U.S. and Canada, The Davey Tree Expert Company watches communities thrive as these benefits of healthy trees blossom and grow.
